Photograph of the Week

February Fog

I LOVE photographing fog!  From Maine, Potter County to here in Fox Chapel, fog has always been one of my favorite subjects.  Weather has continued to be wild here in SW PA with even a tornado in Uniontown.  Have a safe week.

Comments and suggestions are always welcome!

Nature Photography Challenge

Last week, I was challenged by Mark Panza to post a nature photograph each day for seven days and nominate someone new each day to do the same.  The photographs above are the ones I posted.  I found it a hard decision to choose which ones to post since I have hundreds of them; nature being one of my favorite topics.  So, just for fun, I created a flickr album containing all of the photographs I contemplated using.  All of the photographs were taken in Potter County, PA at our camp.  I hope you enjoy them!  The link is

Maine Trip

It has been ages since I blogged!

Earlier this month I had a wonderful trip to Maine with my son, Philip.  We visited many beloved relatives and friends, saw some lovely sights and enjoyed being refreshed by the loving environment and salt air!

Oh, and we took pictures  : )  I am enclosing some panos and other faves.

Have a wonderful holiday season!

Maine 2011 Fog Bank

One morning in Maine, I woke to a new photography experience out in the bay.  A fog bank had rolled in over a calm sea.  The light was incredible!  More shots in the flickr photostream.

A quick, first trip to the cabin this weekend.  The usual winter clean-up followed by photography shoots and time with Jim - Cornish game hens and spinach cooked to perfection topped off by an aromatic cigar!  We even had a snapping turtle laying eggs in the field this morning while having our coffee; until I hit her with a golf ball!!  More pictures in a later post.

Wet, wet, wet!

The current weather in Pittsburgh reminds me of August, 2009 at our cabin.  We could dash out between storms to fish, hike or shoot photos, but only for half hours at a time.  My shoots that trip were along the lines of when given lemons, make lemonade.

Foggy Morning September, 2010

Fog Panorama

Morning Headlines

After a light rain, this morning brought the scent of wet leaves and a wonderful layer of fog in the area. I headed out with the Hasselblad and my Lumix to catch some scenes. I hope we can all enjoy the new cool temperatures and moist air for a while before winter returns! More in flickr photostream.

Foggy Day

Fountain with Weed

Up River

A couple of weeks ago, I ventured out with my camera at 7 am to capture some fog shots. My first stop was the Trillium Trail and Squaw Run Creek area of Fox Chapel. The second stop was Squaw Valley Park in O'Hara. The small lake there is beautiful with a fountain and many water plants. My last stop was on the Allegheny River. The density of the fog on the river softened the road noises as the mist drifted across the water. The water fowl were heard, but not seen except for the hawk. More shots in the flickr photostream.

Images of March, 2009

Colorful Shopping

I spent two days in Annapolis, MD in March with my manager, Lynne. Our primary reason for the trip was a show at The Cade Gallery at Anne Arundel Community College in which I had four photographs. Not only was it a great exhibit, but we found everyone we encountered in the Annapolis area wonderful! The weather was very nice, too. Another photographic opportunity I enjoyed in March was a foggy morning at a nearby park and the Allegheny River.

Image of the (Last) Week

A Boy and His Kayak

Family vacation - 2009. Short and sweet, but rainy. Trying to take advantage of the moist situation, I shot the fog, rushing creek and puddle reflections. Occasional clear nights allowed bonfires and moonlit excursions. Fresh air, spring water and unique bird sightings rounded out a splendid time.
