Stuff Found When Googling Yourself

Lo and behold!  I found that one of my pictures had been selected for showing on Photo Review's 2010 Competition Entries page under the Panoramas category.  Who knew??

Maine Trip

It has been ages since I blogged!

Earlier this month I had a wonderful trip to Maine with my son, Philip.  We visited many beloved relatives and friends, saw some lovely sights and enjoyed being refreshed by the loving environment and salt air!

Oh, and we took pictures  : )  I am enclosing some panos and other faves.

Have a wonderful holiday season!

Picklesburgh, July, 2015

Last weekend the City of Pittsburgh celebrated Picklesburgh on the Rachel Carson Bridge.  The weather was hot, but perfect for an outing and a happening downtown.  Booths sold foods from pickles to pierogies and ice cream and beer.  Musicians were great - especially enjoyed a singer from the Boulevard of the Allies band.  Hope you enjoy my photographs from the event.

Always looking for events and spots to photograph.  Keep in touch!

Photo Walk with John Craig

Back sometime in 2009, I attended a blogging workshop led by John Craig at Silver Eye Center for Photography.  We have corresponded by Facebook and Blogs since then, but on Sunday, we saw each other for the first time since that two-day workshop.  John is kind, supportive and non-critical.  His workshops/walks are informative and he responds to every question with information that reflects the photographic understanding of the questioner.  For that, I am most appreciative.

His wife, Elizabeth, and he are wedding photographers.  Their website is http://www.elizabethcraigphotography.com/  There is an Email you can sign up for to peek at their latest fabulous works and learn more about their services and skills.  I recommend it highly as well as the blogs and John's work that can be found there.

Below are a couple of photographs I took during our walk on Sunday.

Three Rivers Regatta, 2015

Yesterday I ventured down to the 38th Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta.  It was a sunny, warm day after many rainy ones and the citizens were out early enjoying it.  The concession stands had a county fair/carnival feel and odor - everything possible is fried and the lemonade is freshly squeezed.

The rain caused the rivers to be dangerous for water sports, but with the Pirates in town, music and fireworks, all is well.

Bird Banding 101

Last week I got to do a first for me - participate in an early am bird banding at Cathy Ravella's home.  What a great experience!!  I hope to learn a little more about the topic before next year's event.  I also hope to be invited back   : )

Aspinwall Railway

Every day when I go to work at my part time job at First Street and Brilliant Avenue in Aspinwall, PA, I pass under and over the Aspinwall Railway.  Some of you who are Facebook friends may be familiar with my train photos - I have photographed graffiti art on trains and train cars carrying fluids as I wait (mostly patiently) for trains to pass.

As a photographer who loves distressed items, I have been intrigued by the train bridge above the ground level rails and the walls that support it.  I also love the nature that grows on these walls, not allowing anything to get in its way.

I am always open for new opportunities to photograph what you would like to see on this blog or on your walls.  Thanks for looking and enjoy the late spring weather!

Pittsburgh's First Marathon in 1984

The 2015 Pittsburgh Marathon happened last Sunday with the biggest field ever!  Pittsburgh had beautiful weather and the city neighborhoods were out cheering.

I thought I would share these shots taken at the first Pittsburgh Marathon in 1984.  Love the snazzy jacket worn by our then mayor, Richard Caliguiri.
