Photographs of the Week

White Bed

White Bed, Redux

During our Labor Day visit at the cabin in Potter County, PA, we exchanged an ancient, metal white bed with a modern day bed with trundle.  I had a lot of help having the bed placed in the field as an art piece.

Photograph of the Week

Cloud Edges

I love photographing clouds, especially when they offer a wonderful contrast to a silhouetted piney foreground.  At the cabin, we get the fun reflection of the sunset on clouds to our east.  This is an example of that.

Working on a project using grave stones .....

Under the Old Maple Tree

Crosses in the Grass

Close Company

This is the second post related to graves in the last week.  I am not thinking sadness, so much as honor and remembrance of loved ones.  There is a lot of reverence for beliefs and beauty in my thought process as I incorporate my photography into a  fabric piece for an upcoming exhibit. Others in this series can be found in the flickr album here:  https://www.flickr.com/photos/foxchapelimagesllc/sets/72157644902806071/

Wildflowers - In Honor of Phil Being in Potter County Tonight

Devil's Paint Brush

Devil's Paint Brush

Wildflowers
It is funny that I am thinking wildflower pictures from around the cabin while Phil is there; especially since he called about 20 minutes ago to tell me he had encountered a bear within 20+ feet minutes before :/  Fortunately, he walks with the bear spray he gave me for my birthday on 'ready' at all times and none was needed.  He is up at our camp for archery deer season.  Hopefully, he will only be seeing friendly four footeds from now on.

Potter County 2011 Down Creek

Young Buck

Grasses

Creek Jewels Sunlit

White Trees

Wildflower
Mid-August morning light in Potter County is hypnotizing to me - I have to be out in it!  On this particular morning, I put on my water shoes and jeans and traipsed into the First Fork of the Sinnemahoning Creek to catch some shots.  I encountered young bucks, creek jewels and lots of reflections.  The creek came up to my mid-thigh at points - chilling, yet refreshing.  More shots in the flickr photostream.

Snapping Turtle

Hello, Gal!  While we drank our coffee on the porch, you dug a place to lay your eggs about ten yards away.  I am not a fan of your species because you eat the fish in my pond.  I tossed a golf ball at you and you scurried off.  The turtle poster told us that you can keep fertilized eggs in your body for a l-o-n-g time.  Hope you traveled a good distance before trying again to lay another generation.  But, if I see you again, you will be bagged up and taken to the Old Tannery Inn to be made into turtle soup! http://www.barfinder.com/listings/Old-Tannery-Inn-33460-details.aspx
