Photograph of the Week

Tree Reflection

I didn't go very far from home for this shot.  Actually, it is my birdbath right on the deck that once again offered an interesting scene for me to capture.  In this abstract photograph, I found most of my favorite things - water, trees, leaves, reflections and a sense of wonder.

Let me know if I can photograph some of your favorite things.

Photograph of the Week

Birdbath Tree Reflection

Aww, mid November!  An odd time to start a series, but the above is my first Picture of the Week.  I have been remiss in posting on my blog this year.  Perhaps this will be a successful new beginning.

Always seeking suggestions, comments and assignments.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Leaf Shadows

Anteater

Bend and Stretch

Caterpiller

Eiffel Tower

 Wooly Mammoth
Last weekend, we had sunny weather for my exercise effort in the mornings.  I was totally distracted by the wonderful shapes cast by the leaves' shadows.  Today, I will just see puddles!

Potter County 2011 Down Creek

Young Buck

Grasses

Creek Jewels Sunlit

White Trees

Wildflower
Mid-August morning light in Potter County is hypnotizing to me - I have to be out in it!  On this particular morning, I put on my water shoes and jeans and traipsed into the First Fork of the Sinnemahoning Creek to catch some shots.  I encountered young bucks, creek jewels and lots of reflections.  The creek came up to my mid-thigh at points - chilling, yet refreshing.  More shots in the flickr photostream.

Squaw Run Creek July, 2011

Creek Wall

Driftwood

Reflecting Pool

Yesterday, I took an afternoon walk in the Squaw Run Creek.  It was beautiful and very cooling!  I saw two snakes, many minnows and some insects.  The Creek's shape and depth changes seasonally.  More photos in the flickr photostream.

A quick, first trip to the cabin this weekend.  The usual winter clean-up followed by photography shoots and time with Jim - Cornish game hens and spinach cooked to perfection topped off by an aromatic cigar!  We even had a snapping turtle laying eggs in the field this morning while having our coffee; until I hit her with a golf ball!!  More pictures in a later post.

Thanksgiving Weekend in Ohio

Bright Leaf

Shed

Vista

Thanksgiving in Ohio is always a wonderful family time, but it is fun to get out for a rural shoot, too. This year we had every weather type possible: rain on Thursday, sun on Friday and snow flurries on Saturday. Fortunately, it was Friday that was captured on film! More in the flickr photostream.

Grilling in the Leaves

When I opened the grill tonight, a mouse jumped out of a nest of leaves! It escaped, so I lit the grill. While it warmed up, it smelled just like the leaf burning piles of my youth . It reminded me of fall on West Waldheim Road during the 50's. Sigh!! I shot the photos above and on the flickr photostream as I grilled chicken breasts for this evening's dinner. A beautiful fall evening over the ravine.

Foggy Morning September, 2010

Fog Panorama

Morning Headlines

After a light rain, this morning brought the scent of wet leaves and a wonderful layer of fog in the area. I headed out with the Hasselblad and my Lumix to catch some scenes. I hope we can all enjoy the new cool temperatures and moist air for a while before winter returns! More in flickr photostream.

Potter County Summer Trip

Three Blind Mice

Lichen Action Figure

Stump

The eastern coast hot spell was evident while we were in Potter County, PA. It was hot, hot, hot! I never thought I would be glad we got an air conditioner for the cabin, but I was. Enough on the the weather..... the birds were quiet, there were very few bugs and it was great to read on the porch, take pictures and look for heart rocks in the creek. And yes, I spent some time removing unwanted residents. More in flickr photostream.

Fall Leaves

Fall Colors

Creek

A Dancer's Grace

I love the transition seasons of fall and spring, but especially fall. My manager, Lynne, would say that my love for the season is because I love taking pictures of leaves. She's right, I do. But, I also love the brisk temperatures, the Steelers, fires in the fireplace, pumpkin soup and the start of the holiday season. See more of my favorite fall pictures in my flickr photostream.
