Country Market

Amish Rockers

Roadside View

Amish Made

Last weekend on the way to Fallingwater, the Resslers and I stopped at a country market to photograph the wonderful signs, which spoke to us from the road. When we entered the market, we were not allowed to photograph, so I am not able to show you the antiques, Amish rockers and foods. I can tell you, however, that the kettle corn and the melons were delicious!

Butterflies

During the first week in June, I visited Columbus, OH. One morning we spent two wonderful hours touring the Franklin Park Conservatory (www.fpconservatory.org). One of the rooms was ablaze with butterflies!

Foggy Day

Fountain with Weed

Up River

A couple of weeks ago, I ventured out with my camera at 7 am to capture some fog shots. My first stop was the Trillium Trail and Squaw Run Creek area of Fox Chapel. The second stop was Squaw Valley Park in O'Hara. The small lake there is beautiful with a fountain and many water plants. My last stop was on the Allegheny River. The density of the fog on the river softened the road noises as the mist drifted across the water. The water fowl were heard, but not seen except for the hawk. More shots in the flickr photostream.

Lawrenceville Blue Things

Stoop

Yesterday, I took a walk around a small bit of the Lawrenceville section of Pittsburgh. The flowers in people's yards and along the alleys blew me away! I also enjoyed getting some new streetscapes and adding to my blue things collection. More in the flickr photostream.

Farmers Markets

Hot Peppers

This morning's Post-Gazette had an up-to-date listing for this season's farmers markets. I am looking forward to vine ripened tomatoes with fresh basil and mozzarella and freshly grilled corn dripping with butter! Hmmmm - better kick up my jogging routine!! More shots in the flickr photostream.

Wild Weather

Flailing Trees

Right now there seems to be a lot of wild weather around the country. Tonight we had several warnings and my son made sure all of the lanterns were ready for action if needed. This reminded me of a recent experience.

Earlier this month I visited a friend outside of Columbus, Ohio. On the first night of the visit we received a tornado warning and much wailing of sirens. I caught a few pictures of the scene outside before being ushered to the basement to sit it out in safety. We didn't sustain any damage and had the most beautiful weather the following day!
