Sally Brewer Fetterman (1937)
Today would have been my mother's 92nd birthday celebration. I remember a story from my childhood about how Hingham, MA, where my mother grew up, was always festooned with flags on her birthday. The young Sally always thought it was in her honor. I always supposed it was Flag Day, celebrated here on June 14th. It was actually in celebration of Bunker Hill Day. This holiday was originated and celebrated only in Suffolk County, MA, Hingham's home county. Our flag is flying this morning in honor of both of these important events!
