The Sketchbook Project

The Sketchbook Project: 2011

My friend, Kitty Spangler, urged me to join her in The Sketchbook Project. It is not just for artists! Anyone can join by signing up for a sketchbook, choosing a theme, paying the fee and completing the project. The sketchbooks will be exhibited in galleries around the country and then housed permanently at The Brooklyn Art Library where they will be barcoded and available for the public to view.

Sign up by October 31, 2010 and then work and submit your sketchbook by January 15, 2011. The tour begins in March, 2011. Hope you will join us!

Foggy Morning September, 2010

Fog Panorama

Morning Headlines

After a light rain, this morning brought the scent of wet leaves and a wonderful layer of fog in the area. I headed out with the Hasselblad and my Lumix to catch some scenes. I hope we can all enjoy the new cool temperatures and moist air for a while before winter returns! More in flickr photostream.

Hasselblad Adventures!

Sunset Lace

Ironwoods

Yesterday, I pulled out the 'Big Guy', my Hasselblad 503cw. I haven't used it in a while, so I popped in some new film and went to the paths at Beechwood to shoot some nature. What a transition it was metering, focusing and winding after years of digital!! I plan on getting used to it again, however, and learning some photography basics. Car Graveyard

Grave Plot

Bouquet

Planter

The second stop on Dan's and my adventure in Rogers, OH was a car graveyard. The beautiful wild flowers and lovely day softened the effect of the airbags employed, broken windshields and bald tires. As I shot, I worried and wondered about the drivers who had had these accidents and their passengers. I hoped and prayed that they had not only survived, but had flourished since their incident. I hope when Dan and I pass that way again, the graveyard will not be more crowded. More in flickr photostream.

Barn Side Sermon

Barn Side Sermon

Bottle

Barn Door

A couple weeks ago my friend, Dan, and I went to Rogers, Ohio to visit the Friday Flea Market. We stopped along the way for some photo shoots. The Bowers' Market with their road side sermon was one of many highlights of the day. Dan talked with Mrs. Bowers as I photographed. We tasted and bought some of their yellow watermelons, sprinkled with glitter to deter the crows while ripening. Very sparkly! More in the flickr photostream.
